Animal Safari... Again

While Paxton and I were in MD in October, Wes' mom, brother, and brother's girlfriend came down to H-burg for the weekend. The highlight was definitely their trip to the animal safari.

At the end of the drive-through safari, they got out and chased a few chickens around before heading into the "walk around zoo" part of the safari park.

Right Now

Right now...

• Gavin is wearing his underwear backwards. When you ask him why, he says, "because I want to see the choo-choo." You see, for some reason, the stupid kid underwear companies only put pictures on the back of some of his underwear. So naturally, he wears them backwards so that the picture can be on the front. Oh yeah, and he's not wearing anything else. Just undies. Backwards undies.
• Paxton is riding his car walker all around the dining room, banging his toys on the tray and squealing wildly. And I'm having to get up every few minutes to put his toy back on his tray after he throws it on the floor.
• Vivian is wearing an extravagant hat (with a feather), her Dora necklace, high heels, several bracelets, and a scarf. She's also carrying this tin Strawberry Shortcake thing that she has filled with little foam blocks that she is calling "dino treats". Since she is incapable of securely latching the damn thing, the blocks are falling out all over the floor every few minutes, to which she responds by screaming and crying and whining. She pulls herself together, puts the blocks back inside, tries to close it again, and walks away only for the entire cycle to happen again a few minutes later.

Tricks & Treats 2012: School

On Halloween, the twins also got to wear their costumes to school where they had a party with their classmates. They made pizza, decorated cupcakes, played games, and bobbed for apples.

Gavin was Ironman, along with 3 or 4 other kids.

Their teacher told us that they had a great day and that she video taped them bobbing for apples! I'll post it once she emails me the file.

Face Painting & Pumpkins

Last Sunday, my sister (Auntie Bird) and her fiance (Uncle Joey) came over for some face painting and pumpkin carving. Wes' parents also came over in the afternoon and joined in on the fun. Auntie Bird brought a few fun little things for the twins including a bubble camera, face paint, and magic wands.

 The twins had a lot of fun painting Joe's and Wes' faces.

 And we all had fun carving pumpkins!

He's a Jumping Bean

I know I've said it before, but Paxton absolutely LOVES his doorway jumper. He's in it for about an hour a day (sometimes for 10-15 minutes at a time and sometimes for 30-40 minutes at a time).

Just about every time we go to the store...

... he has to check out the vacuums.

Obsessed.

Tricks & Treats 2012: The Neighborhood

On Wednesday night, we took the kids trick-or-treating around the neighborhood.

They were very excited about the whole experience. They even thought Wes and I had something to do with the creation of the holiday. At one point, Gavin said, "Thank you for doing dis, Mom. You're da best mommy in da whole world."

Here was the first house we went to:

They were not shy AT ALL. They would yell "Trick-or-Treat!" and "Happy Halloween!" And when we would walk away, Viv would usually say, "Have a good night!" It was hilarious.

We let them each have one gummy bear before bed (which they were perfectly fine with), with promises of another piece of candy today. This morning, they both asked us if we could "go to people's houses again" today. Next year can't come soon enough for these two.

I see Gavin hit Paxton on the head with a wooden spoon.

Me: "Gavin, what are you doing?"
Gavin: "Checkin' him."
Me: "We don't hit people with spoons."
Gavin: "I have to. He sick."
Me: "DO NOT HIT YOUR BROTHER."
Gavin: "Okay, Mom. I gonna check you now."

You know what happened next.

October 18

Pax just rolled over. 

And over and over.

 

October 25 

Cut Gavin's hair last night.

It looks like shit.

Family photos (for our holiday cards) are scheduled for Saturday.

October 27 

Vivi: "Daaady! Gavin peed at me!"
Wes: "Gavin, did you pee on your sister?"
Gavin: "Just a little."

At least he was honest.
