A Busy Weekend with Grandma

We started of our Saturday morning (the 5th) at Gianna's 5th birthday party. The food had a breakfast theme, which was precious. Also, it was at the Children's Museum, which the kids loved.

Then we met up with Grandma at our house and went to the Dayton Days festival.

After walking around, looking at all of the vendors, and snacking on some sweets, we went back home for lunch. Then, we went to a local pumpkin patch. We started off with a tractor ride to the patch.

Then, we got to work.

We went home, ate dinner, and decided to decorate the pumpkins in the morning. When everyone woke up, we headed out to the front porch with our pumpkins to paint them. All three kids absolutely loved this activity.

It was really fun. We picked the twins' Halloween costumes up at Costco (you'll have to wait and see) right before lunch and let the twins wear them all afternoon. They can't wait til the end of the month.

His Fif Toof

Today, Paxton finally got another tooth. It's his 5th tooth (on the bottom). He had only 4 (top 2 & bottom 2, all in the front) for a few months. He looked like a hamster. Well, not anymore! Our precious little rodent is now growing into a real boy.

The Life of Doots

Yes, we still call Paxton "Doots"; along with "Doodler," "Mr. McDoodles," and "Nugget." And yes, he's still ridiculously precious. We love him. All of us.
Paxton loves to play imagination games with Vivian and run and chase games with Gavin (although Gavin ends up hurting him many times, so he tends to play with Vivi more). He loves to do everything his big bro and sis do. He follows them around, copies them constantly, and wants to sit with them on the couch and at the table. He also likes to copy them vocally. For instance, if Gavin screams, Pax screams. If Vivi laughs, Pax laughs (even if he clearly has no idea why she's laughing).
Like Vivi, Pax has taken a liking to markers. He must ask to get the dry erase boards and their markers down (by pointing and yelling) at least once a day. Unfortunately, this also means that he has markers in his hands a lot and these markers tend to make their way to his mouth (see above photo).
Pax also watches Gavin (i.e. Daddy's little helper- for everything!) work with Wes on projects and he just has to get right in the middle of it all. He gets very excited when he feels like he's really doing something; like climbing ladders.
Last, but certainly not least, Paxton is very funny. And he knows it. Whether he's dancing (which is unbelievably adorable), trying to tickle you by just touching any part of your body and saying "ticka ticka ticka," nodding his head and saying "yeah" several dozen times a day (you kinda have to be here for this- it's very funny), or running around the room/house while screaming "YAY!" when something is very exciting to him, this kid is comedy gold.

School Field Trip

On Wednesday, the twins had their first field trip of the school year. Wes, Paxton, and I all decided to tag along-- we couldn't pass up a trip to our favorite children's museum!

A Weekend with Grandma

Wes' mom came down the weekend after the Richelsens. And boy did we jam-pack our Saturday.

We started off the day at Art in the Park, a totally free event in downtown Harrisonburg. The first activity was a make-your-own park-in-a-jar. The twins each put in dirt, rocks, flowers, moss, butterflies, little trees, and owls.

Then, we got to paint on a large "community canvas." There were two of them. Lots of people were painting on them, creating two large group paintings. Viv was in love with the whole experience. After painting a spider, Gavin asked to leave. Wes and Linda took him and Pax over to the Farmers Market while Vivi and I stayed to paint. We probably painted for another 45 minutes!

Here's our progression.

The cool part is that the paintings are auctioned off to support art classes for kids in the community.

After Art in the Park, we all went over to the Farmer's Market. Then we drove down to Staunton for a car show (that was free).
The twins couldn't believe that TOWMATER was there!

After the car show, we went to Sonic in Waynesboro where we saw a BEAR! Actually, there was a Mama bear and two baby bears. It was quite exciting. We watched the police guard the premises while the gaming marshall tranquilized the bears, got them out of the tree, and put them in the back of a truck. It was definitely an entertaining lunch.

A Firetruck show (also free) in Waynesboro was next on our list of activities.

We wrapped it up at a playground next to the Firetruck show.

We watched a movie and ate dinner that night. It was definitely a jam-packed day.
