Abnormal Affection

Vivian and Gavin have been hugging one another (upon request and randomly on their own) for a few months now. But today's hug was different from the rest and here's why.

Gavin and Vivian were fighting over a toy about 10 seconds before this hug. I broke up the fight and told them to hug one another. Now usually if we ask them to hug, they *might* comply, if they feel in the mood. But, they have definitely never hugged after one of their sibling spats. So surprisingly, they hugged right away. Not surprisingly though, it started off as a nice hug between brother and sister and quickly turned into Gavin tackling Vivian to the floor (which is an extremely common occurrence in our house). Then very surprisingly, Vivian began laughing. And Gavin began tickling her. And Vivi laughed some more. It was a shockingly precious moment.

Funny Faces

The other day, Viv and Gav were a complete mess after dinner. I asked Viv if she would smile for me while a took some photos of her. Each time I asked, she gave me a different face, held it, and then laughed about it. Enjoy.

Jacket Love

Gavin is absolutely in love with his fighter pilot jacket. Like Vivi's poncho, we have to hide it until we want him to wear it. He loves it so much, that he pitches (a sometimes major) fit whenever we arrive somewhere and it's time to take it off. In fact, I usually leave him at school (which is about 10 minutes after we arrive at school) still in his jacket. Wes has been teaching him how to use the zipper (he's really good at pulling the zipper up and down, but we are a long way from attaching the two pieces together on his own) and he loves putting his arms through the sleeves when you hold it up for him. The other morning, I came into the kitchen to find this:

Hide & Seek

And yes, Vivian is wearing a poncho over her pajamas. She LOVES that poncho. So much so that WHENEVER she sees it she has to then wear it for THE ENTIRE DAY. There have been many days when we have picked her up from school only to find her walking around with it on and the teachers telling us that she pitched a fit every time they tried to take it off. Now we have to actually hide it until we want to her wear it.
