My Latest Project
On Thursday, I went to a second-hand furniture store looking for a cheap, sturdy dresser for G & V. Yes, I know; we already have a dresser, but we wanted one that was tall instead of long. This way, we could put things on top of it, out of the kiddos' reach. Anyways, I got a great dresser for a great price.
Then, I went to Walmart to get a brightly patterned pack of scrapbook paper and some wood spray paint. When I got home, the project began.
I started by spray painting the dresser and drawer fronts dark brown.
Then, I cut up the paper into different sized rectangles and squares and broke out the Mod Podge (oh how I love thee).
I glued the paper to the dresser drawer front in different patterns, put a layer of glue on top of the paper, let it dry, and then put another layer of glue on, let it dry, yadda yadda yadda. I put about 4-5 layers of glue on each drawer.
At first, I was only going to do two drawers...
...but when it turned out so great, I decided to do 4 of the 5.
We all LOVE the finished product!

TAG Picnic
Last weekend, I took the kiddos to a picnic that was thrown by our old childcare director (the place we absolutely loved: TAG Family Daycare) at a local playground. We had a great time!
And we're happy to report that the director of our old daycare is opening a new child care center this August and the kiddos have been registered!

New Clothes & New Toys
Gavin and Vivian got a ton of awesome stuff at their second birthday party. From a Scuut bike (with helmets) from their Aunt Rachel to sidewalk paint from their Aunt Brandy and Uncle Iad to their own mini laptops from their Aunt April, they were a bit spoiled. They other day, they were wearing their new outfits from Aunt Stephie & Uncle Tony and playing with a few of their new toys. For instance, they were flipping over their new picnic table from GG and Max, filling it with pillows, and sitting in it.
They also really loved playing with their new dust buster from Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle Philip. They especially loved throwing all of their goldfish crackers on the floor and sucking them up.

Cup-Drinkers
When we took G & V to their 2-year checkup, we had to (as usual) fill out a survey about their development. Things like, "Can s/he stack three blocks on top of one another without making them fall?" and "Does s/he say more than 6 words?" One of the items asked, "Can s/he drink from a regular cup without spilling any liquid?" I had no idea.
"Wes, can Gav or Viv drink from a cup unassisted without spilling?"
Wes replied, "I don't think so."
"Okay, I'm just gonna check NO. Who cares."
It wasn't that we couldn't remember if they were able to perform such a task. We really didn't know; they had never tried it before. When we got home, we gave them a cup of milk after dinner. Sure enough, they did great! Who knew!

"Hi!"
Gavin and Vivian really like to say "Hi!" to everyone. They will wave their little hands and yell out their greeting in their cutest little pipsqueak voices. It is precious.
Lately, Vivian has been taking this love for welcoming others to another level.
A couple of weeks ago, we were playing on the back deck (as usual). There was a HUGE ant crawling on the ground. I told Gavin and Vivian about it.
"Look at this bug! Yuck!" I said.
They both ran over. Gavin looked, said "BUG!," and then went back to business. Vivian looked at the bug squatted down real low, and in her squeaky voice yelled, "Hi!" while waving her hand. It was ridiculously cute. Now, whenever she sees a bug, she will get very close to it and say hello. You can see her waving to a bug in the photo below. So cute.

Rocking Chair
When the twins were born, my mom gave us a rocking chair. It's the same rocking chair that she would rock me and my sister in. We have used it extensively over the last 2 years. And, as you can see, G & V love it as much as we do!
