Girl's Night ~ Sept 2012

Two of my dearest friends, Brandy and Stephanie (and Brandy's son, Carter), came down for a girl's night this past weekend. And although they were only here for less than 24 hours (about 2pm on Saturday til about 10am on Sunday), we had a TON of fun.

On Saturday, we started by going to Walmart to pick up dinner and a few other things. Then, the girls and I got to do a few crafty things (post to come) while Wes took Gavin, Vivi, and Carter to the park. They were all very excited.
All 3 kiddos in our van heading off to the park!

The three amigos

(BTW, how cute is Steph with her little baby bump? Answer: super f-ing cute!)

That evening, we ate dinner, played for a while, put the kids to bed, and went to Sweet Frog AGAIN! That's three weekends in a row, people.

When we got home that night, we had a little fun with Steph's PopBooth App.

The next morning, the three amigos woke up early and had a snack while watching Handy Manny.  Then, we piled the four kids into the car, picked up some donuts and fruit from 7-11, and headed over to the park.

It was an awesome (way too short!) visit! Come back again soon!

i just love it

I love my wedding ring. It's fabulous.

And I like taking photos of the tiny little hands and feet of our children.

So it seems logical that I also love taking pictures of the two things together.

Here's G & V with my and Wes' wedding rings on their feet when they were just under 3 weeks old.

And here's little Vivi holding my ring when she was about 5-6 weeks old.

And here's the most recent installment of these pictures: Paxton holding my ring finger at 13 weeks old.
I just love it.

How was your day?

Here's a video of a "conversation" Paxton and I had after I came home from work last week.

As you can see, Pax is wearing his tie shirt a lot lately.
Well, wouldn't you?

(He's almost grown out of it so we've been putting him in it
every other day or so because we love it THAT much!)

Impromptu 88th Birthday

I know what you're thinking: how could an 88th birthday celebration be "impromptu"? Well, his actual birthday wasn't. But our decision to drive up to West Virginia to celebrate was. Wes' grandfather turned 88 this week and we figured out that we could go see him on Saturday morning on Friday night.

You see, we weren't aware of the celebration prior to Friday. And I had planned a girl's night in Harrisonburg for that Saturday (post to come). So when Wes' brother and mom talked to Wes on Friday about going to celebrate PopDad's 88th in WV the next day, we thought we couldn't make it. Then, we asked if it could be a morning visit instead of mid-day (my girlfriends wren't planning to come down until about 1pm). The celebration was moved to an earlier time and we were set to drive up (about an hour and 45 minutes) in the morning.

We arrived at a restaurant in Martinsburg around 9am, had breakfast with Wes' mom, dad, brother, and his brother's girlfriend. Then, we went over to the Veteran's Hospital (where Wes' grandfather lives) with some delicious cake and happy children. We sang, we ate, and we talked.

We wish we could have stayed longer, but we were really happy to at least have been able to visit for a little while. Happy Birthday, PopDad!

$24.99! Are you outta your mind?

Don't get the reference? That's unfortunate.

(It's from an old Denny's commercial)

I've been on a hunt for the perfect couch for Paxton's bedroom. Why a couch? Well, since we live far away from most of our family and friends, people usually spend the night whenever they come to visit. We have a guest bedroom, but many times, one room just isn't enough. So getting a couch or futon for Paxton's room seemed like the natural choice to make.

So I searched and searched and searched. I was trying to spend less than $250 and a used couch was perfectly fine by me. I was wavering between couches and futons that looked like this:
(from Target for $229)

or this:
(from Target for $199)

Then about 2 weeks ago, Wes and I were at Walmart with all three kiddos to pick up a few things. As we were heading to the check out, there was a black, faux leather, small futon (with cup holders!) put together and on display in the middle of the front aisle. It caught our attention (well, it caught everyone's attention because it was in the middle of the walkway). And it had the word "SALE" written in huge red letters on a piece of paper taped to the front, which almost always catches my attention. As we got closer, I couldn't believe my eyes. The sign said, "Originally $159.99 - Take this one home today for $25!" What the hell! It wasn't the nicest couch and it definitely didn't compare to the couches I had been looking at, but it was only $25! Who gives a shit, right? We bought it. The kids love it; it's kind of kid-sized. And they love the cup holders.

Pax likes it, too.

Goin' for a walk

Gavin, Vivian, and Paxton LOVE taking walks in our neighborhood. We talk about the different colors of things, the houses we like and why we like them, and our favorite parts of the day. We (all) really love this family time together.
