She's a Lint Collector

Vivi is a lint collector. She likes to grab onto her clothing, blankets, soft toys, etc. When she does this, she collects a lot of lint from each item in the palms of her hands. This, coupled with the fact that she also likes to keep her hands clenched, creates a serious collection of lint by the end of the day. So, a few times each day, we open her hands to remove all of the lint, hair, fuzz, and string from between her fingers and in her palms. She doesn't like this. She pulls her hands away from us and sometimes yells a bit. It's like she's saying, "I can't believe you're doing this! It took me all day to collect that!" She's a determined lint collector.

He's a Standup Guy

Gavin is a standup guy. He absolutely loves being stood up on your lap, a couch, the floor, etc. He'll be crying one minute and then you stand him up and he's smiling and cooing. He likes to march, pretend-walk, and jump. Sometimes he looks at us like, "C'mon teach me how to use these things already!" He's ready to go. We got the twins doorway jumpers recently. Gavin is in love. He's such a cute little standup guy.

She's a Werewolf

Vivi is a werewolf. Her fingernails grow faster than any other human being on this planet. I know, I know, babies' nails grow fast. But, you have to remember that we have another little one to compare her to and we've come to the conclusion that Vivi is *special*. Her nails (and recently her hair too) grow so fast that we have to snip them 3-4 times a week or else she scratches herself. It's ridiculous. And, it's been this way since she was born. We didn't even cut Gavin's nails for the first time until he was around 2-3 weeks old. Viv's, on the other hand, had been trimmed 3 times by then. I'll snip them on Monday morning and by Tuesday night, they look like they could use a good filing. We love her adult-like lady fingers and gloriously long nails, but we fear that this peculiarity of hers may cause silver bullets to be pointed in her direction (you know, cause she's a werewolf! work with me people!).

He's a Cannibal

Gavin is a cannibal. He's obsessed with eating his hands. He eats them ALL of the time. He loves them. He'll slobber all over them and just keep on eating 'em. He'll chew on them, lick them, or just place them in his mouth. He does it all. We can't until he finds his feet.

She's a Snotface

Vivi is a snotface. Poor girl can't keep boogers out of her nose to save her life. Like all babies, she was born without nose hair (Weird, right?) and has not developed any as of yet. And, she has the tiniest little nose ever. Well, either her nose is really tiny or Gavin's is really big. Either way, it's small. So, anything she breathes in, gets stuck. And then she sniffles and snorts and weezes until it gets cleared out by one of those nose-snot-sucker-thingys. She's precious. Her miniature nose makes it so that she's always huffing and puffing and snooting and sneezing. She's such a cute little snotface.

He's a Noisy SOB

As we've talked about many times before, Gavin is a noisy little man. He makes noise all of the time. He grunts, gurgles, squeals, oos and ahs, whines, and whimpers. Gavin makes so much noise that we usually go and get him from his crib around 4am every morning so that he doesn't wake up his sister with all of his banter. Snuggling with us is usually one of the only things that can keep him quiet; oh yeah, and then there's the TV (Gasp!), but that's a different story. He talks when he's happy and he talks when he's sad, he talks when he's awake and he talks when he's asleep, he talks when he's playing and he talks when he's sitting still, he talks when he's... you get the picture. He talks and talks and talks. He's a noisy son-of-a-well now, it wouldn't be proper to call myself that, now would it?

She's a Lady

Vivian is a lady. She likes to wear dresses (okay, maybe I like it when she wears dresses), she's not very messy, she doesn't always have to be burped when she eats, she doesn't puke, she likes her mouth to be dabbed instead of wiped, and she absolutely positively hates farting. Yep, you read correctly, she hates cutting the cheese. Anytime Vivian toots a little toot, she whines or cries. Sometimes she'll let out a brief squeal and sometimes she'll scream incessantly. Nevertheless, every single time that she passes a little gas, it's followed by some unhappy noise on her part. And, the face that accompanies this noise looks like she's embarrassed by it ("Oh my, sorry about that"), shocked ("I can't believe that just happened!"), or disgusted with herself ("Ewwww"). Like many things in our life right now, this is quite comical to us. Whenever she does it, we think to ourselves, "She's such a cute little lady."

He's a Tummy Time Addict

Gavin is a tummy time addict. He loves to be on his stomach. Many times, it's the only way to calm him down. He likes being on his stomach while playing on his boppy, while laying on the couch, while laying on your chest, while laying on his surfboard mat, and while being held by you in the football hold. He almost always loves to be on his stomach. He's addicted to it. And, like good parents, we're happy to feed his addiction.

She's a Morning Person

Vivian is a morning person. She wakes up to eat around 6am. She begins to fall back asleep while you're feeding her. But don't be fooled. She's just resting; taking a cat-nap.
Gavin is also usually awake and ready to eat around 6am. And, while he's finishing a bottle, he also falls asleep. But he stays asleep.

After their early morning feeding, we try to get them to go back to sleep for 1-2 hours by all getting in our bed and cuddling. This works with Gavin. He falls right back asleep in one of our arms. Vivi, on the other hand, will pretend to be asleep for 5-10 minutes. Then, she'll wake up, look around, and get rather perturbed by the fact that she's awake and everyone else is asleep. She then proceeds to squirm and fuss until someone takes her out of the bedroom and plays with her. So, at 6:25am, that's what I'm doing; bouncing Vivi while singing to her and writing this post. She definitely takes after me- when she's awake, she's awake. We love our little morning person.
