#43: go to a waterpark

For the Fourth of July, we (Grandma, Uncle Phlip, Wes, me, Gavin, & Vivian) went to the Lafayette water park Tropicanoe Cove. It was SOOOO much fun! It was so much fun that we didn't take any photos until after we got out of the water.
We started off the day in the lazy river. Gavin went with Wes and Vivi went with me in separate inner-tubes. Gav loved every second with his Daddy. Vivi, on the other hand, was very scared and clung to me for the majority of the ride. Then, we took them to the "kiddie" area. There were sprinklers, fountains, and huge umbrellas. The pool started off only about 3 inches and made it's way to about 3 feet. Gavin and Vivi were both VERY scared at first. There was a lot going on. Gavin quickly got over his fear and tried to get out of Wes' arms. Wes put him down in a sitting position and he immediately stood up and started walking. Meanwhile, Vivian continued to hold onto me very tightly. Gavin was hilarious. He had no fear. He would just start walking and when he fell face first into the water, one of us would pick him up, he would blow water out of his nose, and then SMILE! He wasn't just okay with falling into the water and almost drowning himself; he was happy about it! He must have walked around for 30 minutes, loving every minute of it. The babes watched while I went down one of the small slides and Wes and Philip did this walking-across-floating-logs-while-holding-onto-ropes thing. We then went for a few more trips around the lazy river before sitting down for some snacks, water, and clothes changes.

Chuck E. Cheese

Grandma, Grandad, and Uncle Phlip have been visiting since last Wednesday. On Friday, we took Gavin and Vivian to Chuck E. Cheese's for the first time. They were AMAZED by everything. They loved riding on the rides, crawling (and walking) through the tunnels, playing games, and just running around.
The skee ball was Vivi's favorite thing there. She watched me throw 2 or 3 balls down the lane and copied me almost immediately. She LOVED it and kept squealing every time the game was over. Let's just say that we probably spent $4-5 on skee ball alone.

Although they both loved the tunnels, they were definitely Gavin's favorite. He would laugh and squeal while crawling through the tunnels and going to the look-out points. He kept wanting to walk through the tunnels instead of crawl. They both had a lot of fun.

Most people probably don't think about this...

... but every single time either of us goes to the grocery store alone with the kiddos, it is a major production. We have to push the stroller and drag a cart behind us. The stroller is of course needed to push the babes around and the cart is needed to pull all of our groceries. Why? Because both of them can't fit in the seat part of the cart and because we usually can't fit all of our groceries under the stroller. It's quite a sight. And, we do this quite often.

Well, the other day, I took the kids to Target. As I looked for a parking space, I noticed a mom pushing her two big-kid children in a cart with TWO seats in the front. I quickly searched the cart holder thingys in the parking lot for one of my own. I wasn't sure if Gav and Viv were big enough to sit in one, but I was willing to give it a try (Heck, I was willing to try anything so that I didn't have to push the stroller and pull a cart).

Then, I found one. I think I was more excited than the two of them. I sat them down, strapped them in, and they loved it! It was glorious (shout out to Marti May). Even though they look a little PO'ed in these pics, I swear, they really did love it.
