Huffs, Squeaks, & Silent Serious Stares

Although she is usually much more subdued than Gavin, Vivian can still hold her own in the noise department. For instance, while Gavin makes noises much more often than his sister, Vivian's individual cries are exponentially louder than his. When she's upset, she's really upset. During the day, Vivian can often be found huffing, squeaking, and seriously staring at you or at something else that she finds interesting. She also makes these meow-like noises (which we have not yet captured on video) that are quite amusing. Below is a collection of videos displaying Vivian's various noises, or lack of noises.

Grunts, Gurgles, & Squeals

Gavin makes a lot of noises. All of the time. It doesn't matter if he's awake or sleeping, eating or not eating, happy or unhappy. Whatever he's doing, you can be sure that he's making some kind of grunt, gurgle, or squeal. He has a lot to say. Fortunately for him, he also has an audience that loves to listen (except of course at 3am; it's not so cute then). Here are some videos that capture a few of his daily rants.

Carter Iad Al-Hassani

On Tuesday, June 30, 2009, our best friends Iad and Brandy Al-Hassani welcomed their first child into the world. Carter Iad Al-Hassani was born at 3:05pm and weighed in at 7lbs 12oz. Brandy and Iad have been our best friends for many years. I met them both in 2000, but Iad has been a part of Wes' life since middle school. Needless to say, we know them very well. And because of this, we know that Carter is very lucky to have them as his parents. If Carter is anything like his mom, he will be a kind, gentle, and emotional individual who will deeply care about all of his family and friends. He will be talkative, yet reserved. He will be very supportive towards the people he cares about and quite humorous at times. He will know how to have fun, but still be cautious when it is necessary. On the other hand, if Carter is anything like his dad, he will possess initiative and drive. He will value cleanliness and organization. He will work hard and play harder. He will be dedicated to whatever task he is working on, whether it be remodeling a kitchen, laying down flooring, or installing a bathtub. And, he will love his family and friends.

So, give Carter a kiss and a hug for us Iad and Brandy! We can't wait to meet him!

Loads of Laundry

We seem to have a lot more laundry these days. Who knew that two little babies could produce so many dirty clothes!
The funny part is that the majority of each load tends to belong to Gavin (not because he's a diva and likes to change outfits each day, but because he is a messy hungry hungry hippo). Whether he's spitting up on his outfit, letting his milk drip all over his outfit, peeing on our bed sheets or in a fresh towel after his bath or on himself while being changed, Gavin is always making a mess. For instance, I wake up for the 3am feeding after Wesley has done the 12am feeding to see Gavin in a completely new outfit more than 4 nights a week. He's just messy. Vivian, on the other hand, could wear the same outfit for a few days if she wanted to. She's usually a clean eater and doesn't tend to pee on herself, us, or our things.

Since Gavin is the main culprit, I decided to make him help me fold it all (I know, what a mean Mommy!). Turns out that he hates it as much as I do...

Aunt April & Aunt Stephanie

Thank you for coming to visit us last weekend! We had such a good time hanging out with you. We loved shopping at Walmart and Target, renting a movie, eating at Sonic, watching you make tacos and eat some cheese fondue, playing Uno, and of course, being entertained by you all weekend long.
Although we weren't completely sure about our first time in our swings, it was fun watching you all get the fondue ready.
Even though I (Gavin) was sleeping, Vivian had a great time being the center of attention and playing Uno with everyone.
You two (and Mommy) are crazy picture-takers.
It seemed like we were taking pictures all weekend!
Wait, we were!
Here are a few of our favorites...

(Pics of Aunt April with the twins are on their way...)

Thanks for coming to visit us!
We can't wait to hang out again!
Love,
Gavin & Vivian

Weight Stats

The twins were weighed today and here are the results:
Vivian: 8lbs 8oz
(12 ounce weight gain in 10 days)

Gavin: 8lbs 15oz
(16 ounce weight gain in 10 days)

We can't believe that they're almost 9lbs!
Compared to their last weigh-in on June 19,
they've grown a lot!
