33 Weeks

Grand Prix

Every year since 1958, Purdue has held a Grand Prix go-cart race. And, it's a pretty big deal. Local businesses (like The Lodge apartments & the Z 96.5 Radio Station), franchises (like Toyota, Bosch, & Lockhead Martin), and individuals sponsor racing teams so that they can build and customize their go-carts. Then thousands of people come to watch on Race Day.

The video below gives you a little background on this famous race:

Yesterday, Wes and I went and watched 33 go-carts race around the
track for about two hours. By the 125th lap (there were 160 total),
only about 15 go-carts remained uninjured. Go #99!

New Carpet!

Well, we finally changed the carpet upstairs.
It was huge ordeal with many back-breaking steps.

Step 1: Get the all of the furniture from upstairs
to its temporary home downstairs.
Thank you Sarah for helping Wes with this huge task!

Step 2: Pull up all of the carpet and old padding, which Wes did by himself (that's 3 rooms, 3 closets, 1 hallway, and 1 stair case)!
Step 3: Paint all of the doors & molding white. This step
took forever because the molding needs 4 coats of white paint!

Step 4: Lay down the carpet. Thanks to Lowes,
this got done in one afternoon.

Step 5: Take all of the furniture back upstairs. Thank you John, Rebecca, Elizabeth, and Kristi for helping us with this!

Step 6: Re-arrange and re-organize all of our stuff. Wes and I have been working on this for what seems like an eternity. But, we're happy to say that step 6 is also complete!

Here are a few pics of the transformation from
plywood floors to new carpet...

Even the steps are done!
The last room to be completed is the twin's nursery. Don't fret, photos of that transformation will be posted soon enough...

Spring Fest 2009

On Saturday, April 18, Wes and I went to Purdue University's Spring Fest. It's like a county fair without the rides and
with more educational activities.
Wes held a decorator crab.
We both played a "guess the blood spatter" game.
Then, Wes ate some bug-o-licious stir fry.
Among other things, we also got to see the development
of a chicken inside an egg
and a lot of crazy insects inside these glass cases.
Last, but certainly not least, we watched a mime show.
Overall, it was a great Saturday in Lafayette!

3rd Ultrasound

On Wednesday, April 22, we had our third ultrasound. It was glorious (as my friend Marti would say)! In our first ultrasound, our little boy weighed approximately 2 ounces more than our little girl. Then, during our second ultrasound, our little girl weighed approximately 2 ounces more than our little boy. This time, however, each baby weighed the same amount at approximately 4lbs and 3 ounces (that's 8lbs 6 ounces total!). We're really happy that they're both growing at the same pace.

As with every ultrasound, we tried to get a profile and/or face view of both babes. Unfortunately, we still were not able to get a clear ultrasound snapshot of our little girl's face. But, we were definitely able to see our little boy's face and profile rather clearly- especially when the 3D-4D wand was used. In fact, during the ultrasound, our baby boy was seen kissing his sister's head repeatedly. It was incredibly adorable.

At this point, everything else looks good. No swelling, no cramping, no braxton-hicks contractions. I'm gaining the right amount of weight and my blood pressure has been the same for my last three visits. It's all a matter of time now...

32 Weeks

Did you know that at 32 weeks, the size of my uterus with twins is the same size as a single-baby uterus at 40 weeks! Yikes!
I don't know about you, but these two images don't look comparable to me :-)

(BTW, the first image is a woman pregnant with twins at 32 weeks & the second
image is a woman who is pregnant with one baby at 40 weeks)

Check One Two One Two

Last weekend, Wes and I went to have our car seats checked. When the inspection was over, we both took a step back and looked at our car in amazement. It was hilarious and a bit surreal to see our new car filled with car seats.

Maybe we should have bought a minivan...

Too Tight

It's official. I can't wear my wedding ring anymore. I knew that this day would come; I just didn't know when it would actually happen. I guess its good that I lasted 31 weeks before I had to take it off  :-)

I'm going to miss my wedding ring for the next few weeks... or months... I'm not really sure how long it will take for my hands to get back to the way they were... or close to the way they were.

Seriously people, how long does it take?

Out With the Old & In With the New

Yesterday was bitter-sweet. It was a happy day because we found someone to buy my Blazer, but it was also a sad day because we sold my beloved Blazer. Tear.

So, what did we buy? Drumroll please... introducing our new, baby-friendly car:

A Mazda 6 Wagon!
I love it! It's spacious, blue, has four doors, and I can control the radio from my steering wheel!
