March 2012 Facebook Posts

March 9
Listening to the twins play in the other room...

V: goo-goo-ga-ga
G: You hungry, baby?
V: Yeah, goo-goo-ga-ga
G: Okay. I feed you. You sleepy now, baby?
V: Yeah, goo-goo-ga-ga
G: You wanna get in my belly? Just like Mommy. Go ahead. You get in.

March 11
Just checked on the twins after putting them down for their nap about 2 hours ago. The result? Gavin was still awake and Vivi was sleeping soundly with her Elmo.

Oh yeah, and Gavin was completely naked running around the room yelling "yee-haw" like a cowboy.

March 14
After doing my hair, Gavin said to me, "It probably not look so bad, Mom."

Thanks, kid.

March 14
Me: "Where's your hair tie, Viv?"
Gav interjects: "Prolly (probably) they're in the kitchen."
Me: "I don't think so. Viv, do you know where your hair tie from this morning went?"
Gav interjects: "Hair tie prolly (probably) in Viv's pocket."

"Prolly" (i.e. probably) seems to be his new favorite word.

March 16
Me: "I love you, Vivi."
Vivi: "I love me, too."

March 18
Viv: "Is mine beautiful, Brudder?"
Gav: "Prolly (probably) yess."
Viv: "I show my Daddy."
Gav: "Dat not for my Dad."
Viv: "It for MY DAD!!!"
Gav: "It prolly not pretty enough."

March 18
Gavin made a "fort" this morning.

Viv: "Can I come in?"
Gav: "No!"
Viv: "When can I come in?"
Gav: "You can't come for-never."

March 20
Viv: "Brudder coming, Mommy!"
Me: "Okay."
Viv: "Brudder gonna bite me!"
Me (knowing the Vivian is the biter; not Gavin): "Vivian, he won't bite you."
Viv: "Yes he will! Brudder bite me, hit me, push me!"
Me: "Vivi, he might push and hit, but he doesn't bite. You bite."
Viv: "Yeah. I bite."

March 20
As Wes was making monster noises at Vivian, she yelled, "No bite me, Sir!"

WTH, since when did "Daddy" turn into "Sir"?

March 27
The twins are playing "hospital."

Vivi: "You okay?"
Gavin: "No, I sick."
Vivi: (While touching his forehead) "You too cold. You need more ice."

Then, she put an ice-filled sippy cup on his head.

March 29
Gavin: "You brudder (brother)."
Vivian: "I not brudder! I sisser (sister)!"
Gavin: "No, you brudder! HAHAHAHA!"
Vivian: "NO! I not have penis! I have gina! I sisser! You have penis! YOU brudder!"

March 31
As she was putting on her lip gloss for the 371st time this morning, I said, "Vivian, you're such a big girl."

Vivian: "Yeah, I a big gurl (girl). Brudder (Brother) not a big gurl. I a big gurl. Brudder can't have wip gwoss (lip gloss). He would eat it."

This is true.

Cupcakes with Grandma

Last weekend, Wes' mom came down for a quick visit to help out with the kiddos. And while she was here, she, Gavin, and Vivian made CUPCAKES! Yum!

(Oh and, by the way, don't mind Gavin's huge bruise on his forehead and black mark on his nose. He's Gavin. You should expect it by now.)

Classic Vivian

Red lady bug rain boots, pink pants, a green, white, orange, and pink striped dress, a pink leopard print hoodie, and a teal vest. Yep, that's classic Vivian.

My Summer Cut

I'm looking to go to the hair salon this week (my doc gave me the go-ahead at my last appointment!). And, I'm also looking to drastically change my current look. Right now, it's almost shoulder-length (I know! That's REALY long for me!) and I want to get it cut much shorter (more like what I'm used to) for summer.

Well, since Pinterest has such an amazing plethora of hair style options, and since I'm stuck on bed rest, I've been pinning hair cut options like crazy lately (click HERE to see my "hair love" board on Pinterest). Below are some of my favs. Click on the image to enlarge and vote for your favorite(s).

I'll post before and after pics later this week.

P.S. I'm not sure if I actually have the balls to do #5 or #6, but I wish I did. A girl can dream!

She Ain't 'Fraid of No Bug

Yesterday, there was a bug in our house. Wes pointed it out to Gavin and he flipped. He started yelling, "I no want dat bug in my new house!" (p.s. both kiddos call our current house the "new house" every single time they talk about it) Gavin immediately ran over and placed a green lid on top of it (after a little apprehension and screaming of course).

Vivian, on the other hand, was very excited about this bug. She kept taking the lid off the bug and laughing at it. Every time she took the lid off, Gavin would cry/squeal/shriek while Vivian was smiling ear-to-ear.

This is just one of those situations where we notice the huge differences between our twins. It's just so funny to us that Gavin is completely fearless about some things and not others, while at the same time, Vivian is unfazed by many of the things that Gavin is scarred of and ridiculously terrified of many things that Gavin enjoys greatly.

Apparently, bugs are one of those things that divides them. While Gavin is not horrified by bugs, he definitely does not enjoy them. Vivi (as you'll see in the videos) not only likes them, but is not scarred at all.

Listen to the fear in Gavin's voice and the delight in Vivian's. It's so funny how different they are. My favorite line is when Gavin fearfully says, "Catch him, Vivi!" (around the 24 second mark).

This second video is of Viv trying to actually pick up the bug. I love how she says, "C'mon, boy," when she's attempting to catch it.

iPhone Pics

Yesterday, I was looking at pictures on Wes' iPhone and decided to post a few from the last few weeks here.

 Yep, those are our kiddos.

Drivin' the Mower

Our children (especially Gavin) have an unusual obsession with our riding lawn mower. They play on it when they're outside, they LOVE riding on it with Wes when he used to cut the grass at our last house (we don't cut our own grass here), and they talk about lawn mowers in general on a regular basis.

The other day, Wes let them each "drive" the lawn mower around the yard (with the blades lifted so they weren't cutting the grass or anything else on the ground). Enjoy.

They did this for about 30 minutes.

She's Lip Gloss Obsessed

Our little princess has become ridiculously obsessed with lip gloss (or as she says, "Wip Gwoss"). She's always wanted some of my lip gloss if she saw me use it, but she had not had her own personal lip gloss until 2 weeks ago.
Since then, she's gone through not 1, not 2, but 3 lip glosses. She uses it repeatedly. All. Day. Long.

The good news is that she's perfectly willing to put it down at nap time, bed time, and meal time.

When she puts it on, she puckers her little lips together, rubs it all over her them, and then smacks them together rather loudly.

She also continuously talks about how she's a "Big Girl," how lip gloss "goes on wips (lips) only," and how she "puts wid (lid) on so it not get dirty."

I don't think she's giving up this obsession any time soon.

Questions

Our kiddos have been in the never-ending-question-asking phase for quite some time now. Below are the questions we hear about 492 times a day:

Vivian
"What you doing?"
"Right now?"
"What you say?"
"What dat?"
"Can I have some?"
"Which one you want?" (She likes to give Gavin options when they're playing.)
"Where my wip gwoss (lip gloss)?" (The girl is obsessed with her lip gloss.)

Gavin
"What could it be, Mom/Dad?"
"Where you going?"
"Right now?"
"What it prolly (probably) be?"
"Where my Daddy?" (The boy is obsessed with his daddy)

Puzzles!

While Grandma was here, she and the kiddos worked on a few puzzles in the dining room. They LOVED every second of it!

The Baby Suit

That's right, the title says "baby suit." This is what Gavin calls Wes' work jumpsuit of sorts that he wears over his clothes when he's working on one of our cars. Gavin calls it a baby suit because the first time Wes brought it home, he let Gavin get inside and we called it a baby-holder, which later turned into "baby suit." Well the original baby suit is too dirty for the kids to get into now, but Wes just got two more baby suits yesterday. Naturally, Gavin and Vivian both HAD to get inside. At the same time.

The Results

Well, I had the fetal fibronectin test that I blogged about yesterday and it was NEGATIVE! This is great news!

Now we just just have to continue waiting to see when Chocolate Marker is going to make an appearance.

Pump It Up!

On Tuesday, Wes, Grandma, and Uncle Flip took the kiddos to a blow-up, bouncy place in town called Pump It Up! Everybody had a TON of fun and Wes took a TON of videos. Here are a few of them. Enjoy.

Cervix Update

A lot of you have asked me questions about my progress. Well, I just got back from a doctor's appointment and I thought I should just write it all out.

The problem I'm having in this pregnancy is a short cervix. This is a problem because if one's cervix gets too short, one could go into preterm labor. Here's a picture of what's going on:

They not only measure the length of my cervix, but they can also tell if the "bottom" of the cervix is open or not. Here's the breakdown about how things have been going since the end of February:

  • Sometime in the beginning of February: my cervix was 53-55mm and open
  • February 24th (I was about 25 weeks pregnant): my cervix was 14-16mm and open (this is when I was sent to the hospital for monitoring, a steroid shot, and more tests. And it was when I was put on strict bed rest, which still totally sucks.)
  • March 2nd (I was about 26 weeks pregnant): my cervix was 24-29mm and open
  • March 8th (I was about 277 weeks pregnant): my cervix was 20-20mm and closed
  • Today (I'm about 28 weeks pregnant): my cervix is 13-16mm and open
This is not good. I have to go back to the doctor tomorrow to have a fetal fibronectin test. The result of this test is either positive or negative. Negative would mean that going into labor in the next 2 weeks is not likely. A positive result, however, could mean two things: (1) going into labor in the next 2 weeks is imminent or (2) it could be a false positive (which, apparently, is very common). I've had this test done before (on February 25th) and it came back negative. But that was about 3 weeks ago. Fingers crossed that it's also negative tomorrow.

That's the update. For now.

Grandma & Uncle Flip

Wes' mom (Grandma) and brother (Uncle Flip) cam down to visit and help out with the kiddos this week (thank you!). It's been a really nice break from the norm for G & V. One of the things they did this week was take the kiddos to Chick Fil-A. Here are a couple of videos from their outing.

I'll post more about their visit soon...

GG & Max

Last weekend, GG (my mom) and Max (her fiance) came down for a visit. It was a really nice break for G & V, who had been cooped up in the house for most of the week.

GG came bearing all kinds of little trinkets she recently found while she was moving (yes, my mom finally sold her house!). The favorites from the bunch? Gavin absolutely fell in love with a flying plane and Vivian, well, was smitten by a little thing known as LIP GLOSS (i.e. chap stick). In fact, she applied the "gloss" every few seconds for about 48 hours before it was gone. Now she just carries the container around all day.

They played with Jacks on the floor for a while and we watched Bambi for the first time.

And then it was time for crafts! They each decorated a shamrock and a heart.

Of course lip gloss had to be applied during craft time.

Come back again soon!
