Gav & His Favorite Chair

Gavin loves this chair. He moves it all over the house, stands on it, and uses it to get on top of other objects. Since this chair gets him into trouble a lot, we've had to hide it. Gavin found his chair the other day, immediately moved it over to the back door, and stood on top of it. When I caught him, he tried to hide behind the blinds.

Poop in the Tub

I had the following "conversation" with Gavin and Vivian last night:

  • Me: OMG, there's poop in the tub!
  • Vivian: nods her head.
  • Me: Who pooped?
  • Vivian: points at Gavin.
  • Me: Gavin, did you poop in the tub?
  • Gavin: No!
I guess I'll never know...

Viv & Her Animal Sounds

Vivian loves doing animal sounds. Whenever she sees an animal in a book or on TV that she knows, she does the sound. She just loves it.

They're Sour Patch Kids

Vivian and Gavin are a couple of Sour Patch Kids; first they're sour, then they're sweet. It seems like they really get a kick out of injuring one of us and then loving us afterwards. For example, Vivian will head butt Wes and then when he complains or says "ouch," she'll lay her head gently on his chest. Gavin is no different. He'll hit or kick me, realize that he hurt me and then plant a wet kiss on my face. They're definitely Sour Patch Kids.

Funny Stories

The other day, Gavin woke up at 4:45 in the morning screaming and carrying on. I went to get him in hopes that he had not already woken up Vivian. He didn't. She was still asleep. Phew! So I scooped up Gavin and brought him into the living room, turned on Sesame Street, and tried to get him to lay down on the couch with me. He wasn't having it. He was awake. So he jumped off the couch and started playing with his toys. I fell back asleep. Around 6am, I woke up to Vivian yelling "Mamaaaaa!" in her room. As I got up, I looked for Gavin. He was sitting behind the chairs playing with a ball. He was also completely naked. Well, not completely naked. He had shoes on. Somehow he had unzipped his footsie pajamas, wiggled his way out of them, found matching shoes, and put them on the correct feet. That boy is ridiculous.

Another day this past week, Vivian woke up in the middle of the night with what had to be a nightmare (she's prone to those). She was terrified. I rocked her back to sleep for about 30 minutes and then tried to put her back in her crib. Let me first say that I really thought she was completely asleep. She was totally limp and she had already spit out her paci. But, the second I started to lower her into her crib, I heard a tiny little voice whisper, "No no Mama, no no." I had to bite my lip to not laugh out loud. It was hilarious.

Too Much Grace

Vivian loves watching videos of our friends' kids on their family blogs. Based on her behaviors lately, I think she's been watching too many videos of her friend Grace.

Girl's Night ~ February Edition

When we moved to Virginia, making us only 2.5 hours away from the D.C. area, a few of my favorite ladies  (Brandy, Jen, April, and Steph) and I decided that we would try to have a girl's night at least once every two months. And, it seems to be working out-- we all got to see each other in August at our housewarming party and then we had a girl's night in October, November, and this one in February. Not too shabby.

This past weekend, Wes' mom came down to take care of G & V (THANK YOU!!) while Wes was at work on Saturday and Sunday and I drove up to MD for the night. As usual, it was an awesome night. We all met at Stephanie's house, ate some delicious food, and had a few drinks. It was great. Love you girls and can't wait to see you again in April!

Date Night

Last Friday, Wes and I got to go out for a date night. Mind you, we haven't been out without the twins since November! Needless to say, this date night was well overdue. Two of my past students came over to watch G & V and Wes and I headed out to the movies to see True Grit. It was really good.

While we were gone, the girls took some pics of the kiddos for us. I don't think they were too upset about us not being there. They look like they had a lot of fun. Thanks girls!

21 Months

Today, Vivian and Gavin are 21 months old. Three more months til the terrible twos officially begin. Yeah right. Viv has already comfortably situated herself into that stage of her life.

The Art Gallery

When we moved into this house, I wondered what the hell I would do with this huge wall in the kitchen. And then Gavin and Vivian started bringing artwork home from school. Voila! An art gallery was created.

They're Dipaholics

Gavin and Vivian are a couple of dipaholics. They are ridiculously obsessed with any and all dips. Ranch, french onion, ketchup, mustard, and honey mustard- you name it, they love it. And, they ask for dip anytime they are eating anything that could be dipped into something (which happens on a daily basis). The way that they do this is by picking up their french fry/piece of chicken/waffle/vegetable and tapping it on their plate or on the table while yelling at one of us.

Even though they both love the hell out of some dip, Vivi has become the Dip Queen, pitching a bit of a fit anytime you try to take dip away from her. She's ridiculous.

Sandwiches with Daddy

Vivian loves to make and eat sandwiches with her daddy; it's "their thing." She definitely loves watching and helping him make the sandwiches, but her favorite parts are eating individual components (like a slice of cheese or tomato) and then taking bites of the finished product.
