One-on-One Time with Paxton

Wes and I (both separately and together) get a good amount of one-on-one time with little Paxton Marshall. And, we love it. On Mondays, Pax and I take the twins to school, do our weekly grocery shopping, and then go to the free music class at our local library.

Wes takes Pax to Chick Fil-A on Thursdays and typically takes him to the park most other days.

We love all of the extra alone time we get with our Nugget!

A Visit from Grandma

A couple of Sundays ago, Wes' mom surprised us with a short visit to Harrisonburg. We went out to lunch and played at the park all afternoon.

Apple Picking

Yesterday, we went apple picking at Showalter Orchards with our friends, the Whitehursts. We picked apples, ate a few (okay, a lot) along the way, and ate some incredible cupcakes. And, we got even more great family photos, thanks to Diane!

Family Photos 2014

Like I wrote in my last post, we got Steph to take our family photos this year. I absolutely LOVE them! Here are my favorites (and yes, we will probably be using one or more of them for our holiday cards this year).

Richelsen Visit

In the middle of September, our dear friends, the Richelsens, came to Harrisonburg for a visit. We started off the weekend with a pizza dinner on the back deck and some much needed outside playtime on Friday night.

We had planned to take each other's fall family photos on Saturday, but when we woke up, it was rainy and gross outside. So we just let the kiddos play inside for most of the morning. They ate, colored, built Lego structures, and played dress-up.

About mid-day, the skies cleared up and we decided to go try to get these photos that we had planned for weeks done. Everything worked out great! Here's a few of my favorites from the two-location session (I'll do a full family photo post in the next few days):

It was definitely a success! We played outside more that afternoon and then ate dinner and put the kiddos to bed.

Sunday morning, we played outside some more before the Richelsens headed back home.

Thanks for coming, Richelsen fam! See you again soon!

Labor Day Weekend

Our Labor Day weekend this year was crazy. We started off by having the Alhassani's come down from MD on Saturday morning, going to Riven Rock Park for the day, and then ordering pizza and letting the kids (and me and Brandy) play on the slip n' slide Saturday night.

It was a long, exciting day. The next morning, both the Alhassanis and the Rosiers left Harrisonburg to drive up to MD (so the Alhassanis could go home and so we could visit my mom and attend Grant's birthday party).

We slept at my mom's house Sunday night and then drove back to VA on Monday morning. We made it home just in time to go to one of our favorite festivals in town- Bridgewater's Labor Day Festival. It's awesome! The fair has free admission, free carnival rides, and all of the vendors are local business and groups trying to raise money. The kids were in heaven, but it was REALLY hot and everyone got a tad cranky at times because of the extreme heat. So we got them ice cream and all was good in the world.

Did I mention that Labor Day was our seven year wedding anniversary? Well, it was. It was a great day with our family that joyfully ended with some more slip n slide fun.
