One year and counting....

Can you believe it? You know, it's funny. Part of me says "I can't believe we've been married for a whole year!" But, then the other part of me thinks, "It feels like we've been married for years."

On September 1, 2008, Wes and I celebrated our one year wedding anniversary. To honor the occasion, we packed up our car and drove to the Indiana Dunes on Lake Michigan. We stayed at the Waterbird Inn & Spa. We had a hot tub in the room (complete with bath salts and candles) and a beautiful view of a lake off of our balcony.

The first day we arrived in northern Indiana, we went to the state park to see what this so-called "beach" looked like (people in the Midwest call the shores of most lakes "beaches"). Once we entered the park, it seemed like we were driving forever before we made it to the lake.

I'm not sure what we were expecting, but I think we were both pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the water. It was gorgeous! Wes and I drove along the shore for about an hour looking at the water and the amazing "beach" homes.

That night, we drove about 30 minutes south to Valparaiso, which is a quaint little town in northern Indiana.

We ate atBistro 157, which according to their website, "serves up an ambience that goes well with the gourmet cuisine." It was delicious. Of course, my favorite part was the sushi plate appetizer.

Keeping up with tradition, Wes and I ate the top of our wedding cake that night, and then again the next morning.

After our cake-eating-extravaganza, we went to "the beach" for the whole day. It was sunny, warm, and relaxing. Overall, it was a wonderful celebration for our first wedding anniversary.
