Indianapolis Zoo!

On Memorial Day, we packed up the car and took a day trip to Indianapolis (which is about an hour away from where we live). We packed a large bag (with water, sippy cups, snacks, lunch, diapers, wipes, a change of clothes for the babes, a camera, and a few other essentials) and piled the kiddos into the car. We headed south to the Indianapolis Zoo. It. Was. Awesome. Gavin and Vivian had a TON of fun watching all of the animals and the other kids. We started in the Oceans exhibit and saw penguins, sea lions, sting rays, sharks, colorful fish, and polar bears. The sting rays were Gavin's favorite and Vivi loved the penguins. They stood up and pressed their little faces up against the glass, clapping, squealing, and laughing whenever an animal would swim by.
The sharks were Wes' favorite. Their was actually a shark touch pool there. Apparently, Wes has touched sharks "many, many times" throughout his life (he says that shark touch pools are very common- who knew!), but this was a first for me. Vivian and Gavin were in awe of the sharks.

Then, it was off to the Dolphin show. Vivi and Gavin were mesmerized by the dolphins. They smiled a little, but mostly just stared.
We also saw lots of other animals while we were at the zoo. From cheetahs and rhinos to monkeys and lemurs to flamingos and other exotic birds. One of Vivian's favorite things was this little bird with a HUGE beak. It was walking around near the glass and eating things. Unfortunately, we couldn't get a pic of the actual bird, but we got Viv being interested in it!

Our last stop was the carousel. Wes rode with Viv and I rode with Gavin. They LOVED it! The photos don't do their experience justice. They both were laughing and giggling the entire time the ride was in motion.

On the drive home, Wes and I were talking about the highlights of our day. We both agreed that going to the zoo is SO MUCH MORE fun now than it was 2 years ago.
