A Weekend with Grandma

Wes' mom came down the weekend after the Richelsens. And boy did we jam-pack our Saturday.

We started off the day at Art in the Park, a totally free event in downtown Harrisonburg. The first activity was a make-your-own park-in-a-jar. The twins each put in dirt, rocks, flowers, moss, butterflies, little trees, and owls.

Then, we got to paint on a large "community canvas." There were two of them. Lots of people were painting on them, creating two large group paintings. Viv was in love with the whole experience. After painting a spider, Gavin asked to leave. Wes and Linda took him and Pax over to the Farmers Market while Vivi and I stayed to paint. We probably painted for another 45 minutes!

Here's our progression.

The cool part is that the paintings are auctioned off to support art classes for kids in the community.

After Art in the Park, we all went over to the Farmer's Market. Then we drove down to Staunton for a car show (that was free).
The twins couldn't believe that TOWMATER was there!

After the car show, we went to Sonic in Waynesboro where we saw a BEAR! Actually, there was a Mama bear and two baby bears. It was quite exciting. We watched the police guard the premises while the gaming marshall tranquilized the bears, got them out of the tree, and put them in the back of a truck. It was definitely an entertaining lunch.

A Firetruck show (also free) in Waynesboro was next on our list of activities.

We wrapped it up at a playground next to the Firetruck show.

We watched a movie and ate dinner that night. It was definitely a jam-packed day.
