For as long as I can remember, I've always tried to extend my birthday celebrations over as many days as possible. Well, this past weekend belonged to Gavin and Vivian. It started on Friday morning when my mom (GG), Wes' mom (Grandma), and Wes' brother (Uncle Flip- aka Philip) arrived at our house from Maryland. That night, we went out to dinner. As usual, Gavin and Vivian LOVED all of the sights and sounds in the restaurant. While we ate dinner, they ate bread, carrots, and green beans.
Late that night, my sister (Auntie Bird- aka Meghan) and her boyfriend (Joe) arrived from Virginia. Saturday afternoon, the twins had their FIRST birthday party, which was a Hawaiian Luau theme.
My youngest (fake) sister (Aunt Sarah) and my second mom (Grandma Renee) made it into town right before the party started. A few friends from Purdue also came to celebrate with us (Kristi & her husband Greg; Brenda, her husband Brian, & their daughter Charlotte; Pam; Elizabeth, her husband Joshua, & their daughter Sydney; and Nadine, her husband Majdi, & their son Kareem). It was a TON of fun. They opened presents and played during most of the party. But, we were able to pull them away from their new toys for a few minutes to eat their birthday cupcakes (post to come).
The next day (Mother's Day & their actual birthday), we had a Mother's Day brunch with quiche and waffles. Delicious. Then, we (minus Sarah, Renee, & Joe) took the kids to the Columbian Park Zoo, which is much bigger than it was last year and incredibly adorable. We started off the day by turning the twins' car seats around (which they absolutely love) before heading off to the zoo.
Gavin and Vivian began the trip around the zoo in their stroller, but were quickly removed to get a closer look at the animals.
And of course, taking a trip to the zoo would not be complete without visiting the swings!
