What once was a poppy seed

From the size of a poppy seed, to a sweet pea, to a raspberry, to a lime, to a peach, and finally, to the size of an avocado; our little one is growing up fast!

Yesterday marked the end of my 16th week of pregnancy and we can't believe how quickly the time has flown by. Among other things, our little baby's legs are now longer than his or her arms and s/he is moving those arms and legs frequently (unfortunately, I still can't feel those little movements). The baby's fingernails and toenails are also growing now; and if our little one take after his or her mom at all, s/he'll be biting them off in no time. Interestingly, our baby's eyes are moving now and, though the eyelids are still sealed shut, they are sensitive to light. If we put a flashlight up to my belly, the baby may begin to shield his/her eyes with his/her hands.

So many changes in so little time.

Pottery!

Today, Wes and I went to the local paint-your-own-pottery store and painted all afternoon. And, when I say "all afternoon," I mean it! We were there for 4 hours! Although we didn't get to bring our projects home with us, we did take pictures of what they each looked like when we left 'em.

We're excited to see how they turn out!

Merry Christmas Eve

Over the last few days, one of my favorite individuals has been staying at our house. My sister, Meghan, and I grew up with her and her sister and we've all shared many great memories together. This weekend was no exception. From lounging on the couch watching movie after movie to making muddy buddies to decorating cookies, Sarah, Wes, and I had a great last few days. We love that Sarah is going to Ball State because we get to see her a lot more now!

Unfortunately, Sarah left this morning for Fort Wayne to spend Christmas with her fam. We love you Sarah and we can't wait for you to come visit us again!

A christmas parade

Every December, Lafayette has a Christmas parade that goes down Main Street. And, our friends, Brenda & Brian, happen to live in a gorgeous apartment on Main Street. On Sunday, Brenda and Brian hosted a parade-watching party from their apartment. It's great because we get to watch the longest parade in the state of Indiana from the warmth of a second floor apartment.

As usual, there was tons of great food! We had frittata, meatballs, sweet potatoes, an assortment of deli meats and cheeses, couscous, and lots of delicious desserts!

What can I say, great friends + great food + great parade = an awesome Sunday!

A bit late...

I know it's a bit late, but I just got the photo! A few weeks ago, Wes and I traveled to MD for a visit and it was great! Unfortunately, I forgot my camera (I left it plugged into the wall, which I plugged in especially for our trip), so we didn't get to take any photos- except for one (above). We got to visit a lot of people while we were there. Let's see, we of course got to hang out with our families. I had a lovely breakfast with my mom, sister, and grandma, while we both went out to eat with his mom, dad, Philip, and Jenn. Even though we were only in town for 2 days, one or both of us were also able to see many of our friends like Iad & Brandy, Ruth, Diego, & Oscar, the Akeefe family, and Ben, to name a few. As always, I also got to have a gathering with my favorite girls: Steph, April, Brandy, and Mitchem. It was a great visit and we can't wait to go again!

An emergency peachtree gathering

Last night, Rebecca decided that we all needed an emergency peachtree gathering. Why, you might ask? Well, some big news was shared yesterday. First, Brenda came into my and Kristi's office and she immediately said, "Brian and I are due in May!" I couldn't believe it! I was totally shocked! I told her to come in and close the door. Then, I told her, "Wes and I are having a baby in June!" (Yes, that's right, we're having a baby!) Many OMG's ensued. We then called Rebecca and told her about both of us. She insisted on having a gathering. Elizabeth was found in the building and told the good news as well. Later that evening we got together to celebrate and chat about it all. Kristi hosted and had many baby-themed delicacies including baby carrots, baby M&Ms, baby oranges, etc. Overall, it was a wonderful evening with my favorite peachtree ladies.

Happy Halloween!

Last night, we went to the annual graduate student Halloween party. There were a lot of really awesome costumes. Some of our favorites were...

Sarah & Bristol Palin

Ed McMahon & a Publisher's Clearing House Winner

Juno and Paulie Bleeker

Halloween Parents on Baby's First Halloween

And of course, there was us. Wes and I decided to drive the '56
and dress up like we were from the 50's. He wore a tight white t-shirt with cuffed jeans & chucks, while I wore jeans, heels, and a "pink ladies" jacket.

Overall, it was a fun night for everyone.

Gill Family Visit

Last week, my mom and sister came to visit us in Indiana. They were here from Tuesday to Saturday. We went out to eat, played our Wii, went to Lafayette's Octoberfest, got frozen custard, and of course, we did a lot of shopping!

First, we enjoyed fried pickles at Chumley's in downtown Lafayette.

Later that day, we played the Wii. We all got really competitive (especially my mom). Below are the scores from a serious bowling game between my mom and sister (my mom scored 130).

Friday was Meghan's birthday! YAY! To celebrate, we went to Bea One and ate lots and lots of sushi. Yum!

Then, we went back home, sang happy birthday, and enjoyed a delicious cheesecake.

On Saturday, Meg, my mom, & I went to Lafayette's Octoberfest during the day, which was a cute small-town festival with food, games, arts & crafts, and antiques. It was a nice fall day for the festival.

We're always very happy when people come all the way out to Indiana for a visit... especially when it's people who we love so damn much!

A day in Indianapolis

On Monday, October 13, Wes and I decided to go to Indy for the day. We started off at the Circle Center Mall, where we shopped and ate at P.F. Chang's.

Then, we went to Bodies: The Exhibition, which was A-MAZING! If you haven't heard about it yet, it's an exhibition that features real human bodies! You can read more about it here.

After The Bodies, we went to the south side of Indy to test drive a Mustang Cobra convertible. Wes was in heaven!

Once we finally convinced the salesperson that we were not going to buy it that night, we drove back to good 'ole Lafayette.
