Bridgewater Lawn Party

We interrupt this Lake Anna blog series with a  post about the Bridgewater Lawn Party (I'll get back to our vacay tomorrow).

Anyways, this past Saturday, we took the kiddos to a car show in the morning at the Bridgewater Lawn Party (which is a 4-day event hosted by the fire dept). This is the third year that we've attended (see HERE for 2011 and HERE for 2012). It was a lot of fun and the kids said some adorable things while we were there.

First, Gavin likes to puff his chest out and be praised for his knowledge about cars. You see, Wes is constantly naming the years, makes, and models of random cars throughout the day and Mr. Gavin just wants to be like his Daddy. When we first got to the car show, Gavin said while pointing at a car, "Dis looks like a Chevy, Dad." He was right and Wes praised him. Then, he continued to say, "Dis looks like a Chevy" for every other car we saw. He was right about half of the time. Each time Wes told him that he was right, Gavin would say something like, "I knew it!" or "You didn't know that I knowed that." The best part was looking at other on-lookers' reactions when he was right. They had no idea that he also said it for the previous 42 cars. Comments included things like, "Wow! He's so smart!" and "He's a car guy, huh?" We just laughed.

Second, Vivian kept wanting Wes to pick her up so she could look inside. She would look and say things like, "Wow, Dad. It's so beautiful!" and "Dad, this is such a pretty car!"

When he saw this car above, Gavin said, "Look, Mom! It's an airplane car! It's wings are out!"

There was also a little playground. Pax loved it.

It was so freakin' hot outside, that we decided to get ice cream afterwards.

We went home, ate lunch, Pax took a nap, and we all watched Back to the Future, before we headed back to the Lawn Party that evening to catch the fair rides and tractor parade. This was the first time, ever, that we let the twins ride any rides. They only thing that G & V have ridden have been little quarter rides inside the mall, a train here and there, and carousels. We got some tickets and let them ride whatever they wanted. The first one they chose was a motorcycle ride. They thought it was very cool.

Then they rode a car ride, a carousel, and the car ride again.

Once we were done with all of our tickets, we ran to catch the end of the tractor parade.

We made it home in time to start our bedtime routine. Everyone fell asleep before the first book ended.
