According to most pediatricians, newborns should gain anywhere from 1/2 ounce to 1 ounce each day for the first couple months of life. Gavin and Vivian apparently think that one ounce a day is just not enough. At our last doctor's appointment, which was 14 days ago, Gavin weighed 5lbs 9 oz and Vivian weighed 5lbs 6oz. Today, we went to the doctor again for their one month check-up and discovered that Gavin weighs 6lbs 15 oz and Vivian weighs 6lbs 8oz! That means that Vivian gained 18 ounces and Gavin has gained 22 ounces in the last 14 days. So much for an ounce a day! In other measurement news, Gavin is 20.5 inches long and Vivian is 19.75 inches long.
The doc says that at this rate, they'll be caught up with their non-preemie counterparts in no time.
