On May 4th, we threw all three kids a Pirate-Mermaid birthday party.
Get ready- this is a VERY long post with A TON of pictures.

Once everyone arrived, I took each child's photo in a themed photo booth on the front porch (post to come). Each child got to choose if he or she wanted pirate stuff or mermaid stuff. The pirates got a felt pirate hat and a telescope. The mermaids got a necklace, bracelet, and a hair barrette that had a long braid of brightly colored hair attached to it. Here's are our three at the photo booth:
Everyone ate, socialized, and played outside for a while. The sand table was a HUGE hit.
Then we started the craft, which was painting seashells with red, teal, or purple paint. It was extremely windy, but the kiddos seemed to not really care. They were all really serious while painting- even the really young ones.
After the craft, we went on a pirate treasure hunt. Each child got a little map and a container of bubbles with a fake compass on the top. I told all of the kids that they had to blow bubbles while we were on the hunt. It seemed like a good idea, but by the time we actually made it to the treasure, everyone was COVERED in soapy bubble mix. It was gross.
This is probably my favorite photo of the day. It was at this moment that Paxton realized everyone was singing for him. And he loved it. |
Presents were next!
The rest of the party was spent playing outside, chatting, and taking pictures of... everyone.
Of course, there was the obligatory group photo. Unfortunately, there were a lot of people missing from the photo who were in attendance (i.e. Wes' mom, Philip, Courtney, Grant, Meghan, Steve, Renee, Dave, Alison, and Areyl).
Another great birthday party on the books!
Looking forward to next year!
